Decision-Making in the Information Age

In today’s high-tech world, we are inundated with information. Recently, I read that there is more information in a daily newspaper today than people could gather in an entire year back in 1900.  And according to the University of California, San Diego, each us of are exposed to approximately 3,000 advertisements and absorb more than 100,000 words every day. (Keeping in mind that Tolstoy’s War and Peace contained 460,000 words, that is a lot of information on a daily basis!)

The challenge we face today is no longer gaining access to information. We now have to effectively evaluate information in order to make quicker, more informative, more advantageous decisions than our competitors.

How does this apply to insurance?   Take health care reform as an example.  Contained within the nearly 2000 pages of the House Health Care Bill, HR professionals need to know that among many other changes:

  • Healthcare reform will require plans to allow dependents up to the age of 26.
  • Employers will be required to disclose the value of employer-sponsored health coverage on each employee’s annual Form W-2.
  • Expenses for OTC medicine without a prescription will no longer be reimbursed by an FSA, HSA, MSA or an HRA.

The information needed by employers, brokers and employees is readily available in an endless expanse of information. However, the question still remains; how do we acquire efficient access to the pertinent pieces in order to recommend working solutions before it is too late?

At Businessolver, we are continually analyzing the benefits world, our internal processes and our clients’ data to recommend best practices for our clients and partners.  We also provide proprietary tools which clients can easily analyze their own data for use in more informed decision-making.  Three of those tools are listed below:

  • DASHBOARDS- Information is accessible and organized to provide clients with complete transparency, allowing them to measure success by monitoring every process.
  • PARTICIPATION ANALYTICS- A tool to make recommendations for the future based on past results, allowing Businessolver to automate the analysis of employee information.
  • CLIENT PULSE- Performance metrics are measured and tracked on each of our clients’ services.

With these tools and many more, Businessolver is able to provide our clients with information that is more thorough, easier to access, more timely and therefore more useful than any of our competitors are able to provide.

We don’t look at electronic enrollment as a standalone service. To provide the most value to our clients, who have to make decisions in an information age, we are committed to providing them with the information they need to succeed.
