Last month, Businessolver employees had the opportunity to work on Habitat for Humanity houses in Denver and Des Moines. Everyone who participated agreed that it was time well-spent helping an area family with a hand up, not a hand out.

We wanted to continue to impact the community through the great work Habitat is doing by participating in a panel build at our office. On Wednesday, July 20, Businessolver worked with our friends from GuideOne Insurance to build the panels of a house that will then be moved and completed on a housing site.

Habitat supplied all the materials, equipment and training and we supplied the man-power and enthusiastic energy to help a family realize their dream of home ownership. (More information on panel builds can be found on the Habitat site.)

Emily Hall, Businessolver RFP writer summed up the day well: “Braving the heat was worth it to support this great cause and contribute our efforts to frame a house for a family in our community. Habitat was extremely helpful and patient as we learned the different building processes. I for one had zero construction knowledge, but Katie (Habitat) stayed with our team until we felt confident. By the end of the day, we were all eager to finish strong, and we were successful in finishing the entire framework for the future home. More than anything, I think we all developed a huge appreciation for those who work with Habitat for Humanity full time, and we’re excited to see what the finished project looks like.”

Since 1976 Habitat for Humanity International has been changing lives through homeownership. Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity was established in 1986 and just last year, they partnered with 26 homebuyer families, giving 130 people including 75 children a brighter future that they can make their own. Businessolver and its employees have found a great community partner in Habitat for Humanity and we hope to continue to help them do amazing things in the future.
