Annual enrollment is just that, “annual”!  Why let that one time a year pass by without reinforcing one of the key reasons you are such a great employer to work for…because you offer GREAT benefits!  In order to appreciate something you first have to understand it!  Don’t miss this opportunity to educate employees on what they have available to them.  Who knows, they just might thank you!

Why are Full Positive enrollments a GREAT idea?

1. There is only ONE time each year that you have the employee’s full attention; why wouldn’t you want to leverage that opportunity to reinforce the great benefits package you offer? It helps with employee retention and engagement. Gallup studies show that even if the employer doesn’t have great benefits, but they do a great job communicating, then employees are more likely to stay and be happy with their benefits package.

2. Do you have any type of surcharge (wellness, smoking, spousal)?  Full positive enrollments give employees a chance to update that information and get credit for being healthy!

3. Recommendation Engines are fresh and new.  These tools can greatly help guide employees in their decision making process, but they have to know they exist!

4. Full positive enrollments will increase participation in the benefits. If they don’t see them, they won’t enroll in them!

5. How about adding a survey at the end of enrollment to get feedback from the employees?  It can be about anything…benefits offered, enrollment experience, culture…anything! What better way to collect information from employees and to show you care about what they think.

6. Things change…having one time a year when employees have to go in and update email addresses, cell phone numbers and beneficiaries will keep your records up to date!

7. It’s an opportunity to educate on the ACA reporting that employees will have to do in the spring and what to expect.

8. Employees may need to update their HSA or FSA contributions.

9. Just got married or had a baby?  Kid turned 26? Employees have the opportunity to add or remove dependents.

10. If voluntary products are offered, it may be the only time employees can get Guaranteed issue coverage (depends on plans and carriers)!
