Businessolver’s Jamon Harrell Honored by West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce
Harrell named ‘Emerging Leader of the Year’ in 2021 West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awards
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (September 3, 2021)—Businessolver®, a leader in SaaS-based benefits technology and services, is pleased to congratulate Jamon Harrell, Director of Client Onboarding, for being named 2021 Emerging Leader of the Year in the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Workplace Excellence Awards.
Harrell was recognized at today’s ceremony that highlighted achievements by area businesses and leaders that are “catalysts for doing greater good through making the workplace a tolerant, more inclusive community.”
In his acceptance remarks, Harrell thanked Businessolver President and CEO Jon Shanahan and Chief Strategy Officer Rae Shanahan for “allowing me to light the match of change within our organization. Prior to the pandemic, we could ‘entertain away’ some of the hard things in life; the pandemic took away those options. When we really started engaging with topics like diversity and inclusion in the workplace, we could no longer look the other way or avoid the hard stuff.”
Businessolver launched its organization-wide initiative to intentionally create a more diverse and inclusive workplace during the summer of 2020 following the murder of George Floyd. Harrell volunteered to lead the initiative with support from executive leadership and more than 20 Solvers who actively participate in committees to move the needle on DEI efforts throughout the organization.
“I’m proud of the progress we’ve made toward ideal diversity, equity, and inclusion at Businessolver—especially over such a short time—but there’s obviously more work to do,” said Jon Shanahan. “I’m grateful to Jamon for his courageous leadership in helping our organization do our part to create meaningful and lasting change for Solvers and within our wider Des Moines community. This honor is well deserved; it’s my privilege to congratulate him.”
