Businessolver Helps Make Wishes Come True

Businessolver is a proud supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation providing support to its local chapters to help make wishes come true for children diagnosed with a critical illness.

In the last couple of weeks, we hosted two “Wish Parties” in our offices in Iowa City and Denver. Disney themed parties were planned, families were invited and laps around the offices celebrated the children and their families as they prepare for their upcoming travels to Walt Disney World.

Why did Businessolver sponsor wishes for Kimberly and Zander? The answer is simple. It’s the Businessolver Way! The Businessolver Foundation is committed to helping families live healthy and happy lives while encouraging employee engagement. Granting wishes to children participating in the Make-A-Wish Foundation program helps us meet our mission, help families in need and encourage our employees to participate in the process.

A little bit about Kimberly

Kimberly is one of seven siblings and was diagnosed with Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her favorite activities include being outside on her trampoline or scooter and playing with her Barbies. Her favorite color is turquoise and she can’t wait to meet Elsa from Frozen. In fact, Kimberly’s second wish was to “be Elsa!”

A little bit about Zander

Zander is a 3-year-old diagnosed with VACTERL Association with Tetralogy of Fallot. Zander had his first open heart surgery at 3 months old and has since had three other surgeries on varies areas of his body with his most recent being another open heart in Sept 2018.

Zander loves to play, be outside and became a big brother this past year. His older cousin, Ezra, is his best friend. Zander has not been allowed to be around a lot of other kids so he has found happiness playing with lots of toys, reading books and acquiring quite the movie collection. He loves all things Disney!

Businessolver is proud to support the Make-a-Wish Foundation and here are three ways you can get involved too:

Refer a Child A child with a critical illness who has reached the age of 2½ and is younger than 18 at the time of referral is potentially eligible for a wish. Potential wish kids, medical professionals, parents, legal guardians and family members with detailed knowledge of the child’s current medical condition can initiate the referral process.

Donate to the Cause – Every little bit counts, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation counts on individual and corporate donations to help make wishes come true. You can donate cash, stock, cars or even your airline miles.

Volunteer – It was so heartwarming to welcome local Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteers to our “Wish Parties” in Iowa City and Denver. These volunteers help deliver the wishes to the families and guide them as they embark on their journeys among other duties and opportunities available. From working professionals to retirees, there are many ways all can help.

For more information about referring a child, donating or volunteering, I encourage you to contact your local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter. They can lead you down the right path to joining Businessolver in making children’s wishes come true!
